Young Birders: Wonderful Woodpeckers
Young birders learn about woodpeckers on the Downy Loop Trail in Hudson.
This outing introduces children to woodpeckers through a combination of classroom learning and outdoor exploration. The program starts with a brief presentation indoors, then moves into the field for a guided bird walk where kids can observe these fascinating birds in their natural habitat. It's designed for children ages 8 and older who are curious about wildlife and ready to spend time outside.
Parents should plan to stay with their child throughout the entire hour-long session. If you have questions before attending, the Nature Realm Visitors Center is available to help—they're open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. This is a great way for young naturalists to learn something new while getting outside on the trails.
