TubaSummer at The University of Akron

Free outdoor tuba concert series—a unique and festive summer musical experience.

TubaSummer brings back a beloved summertime tradition with its 26th annual concert, featuring brass musicians from around the region performing summer favorites on tuba, sousaphone, baritone, and euphonium. The free, public concert takes place on the Guzzetta Hall lawn at Buchtel Commons, with an indoor backup location in Guzzetta Recital Hall if weather doesn't cooperate. Families are welcome to bring their own chairs and snacks to enjoy the performance in a relaxed outdoor setting. If your family includes young musicians interested in joining in, TubaSummer welcomes performers of all levels. Performers should arrive early for registration at 4:30 p.m. in the Guzzetta Hall atrium, followed by a brief rehearsal at 5:00 p.m. before the concert begins. There's no registration fee, and the event provides chairs and bottled water for performers. Participants should bring their own music stand and the TubaSummer songbook if available (extras are offered at rehearsal). Audience members can simply settle in with a chair and refreshments to enjoy the music.
