Paws & Prayers: Blessing of the Animals at The Friars’ Table
A faith-based blessing ceremony celebrating pets and animals at The Friars' Table.
Bring your furry family members to this meaningful outdoor celebration where Brother Phil Bernier and monks from the Capuchin Ministries will offer individual blessings for your pets. This special event honors St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, and holds extra significance this year as it marks the 800th anniversary of his death. The event welcomes families of all faiths and beliefs, making it a truly inclusive gathering for pet lovers across the community.
Your pets receive individual blessings on a first-come basis (just remember to keep them leashed or in carriers for safety). The day includes complimentary treats for both your animals and your family—blessed pets get special bandanas and snacks, while you and your loved ones can enjoy refreshments like coffee, cider, and human treats. Best of all, there's no admission fee. It's a heartwarming way to celebrate your bond with your pets while reflecting on compassion for animals and the natural world.
