Kids in the Garden

Bring your child to learn about seed saving at Summit Lake Nature Center's monthly program. The hour-long session includes a short educational component followed by a seed swap where families can exchange seeds they've grown at home or have extras from seed packets. Whether you're bringing vegetables, herbs, native plants, or other varieties, all seeds are welcome—just remember to label them with the plant variety and package them in small amounts. This is a relaxed, inclusive activity perfect for families interested in gardening together. You don't need to be an experienced gardener to participate; beginners and curious kids are equally welcome. The program runs monthly from June through October, so you can attend whenever it works for your schedule. Bring seeds to share, take home new ones to try, and enjoy a hands-on way to explore where food and plants come from.
