Kids in the Garden
Hands-on garden exploration for kids at Summit Lake Nature Center.
Bring your family to learn about seed saving at this hands-on program at Summit Lake Nature Center. After a short instructional session, you'll participate in a seed swap where families can exchange seeds they've saved from their own gardens or share extra seeds from packets they have at home. If you'd like to contribute to the swap, just make sure your seeds are labeled with the variety name and packaged in small amounts—vegetables, herbs, and native plants are especially welcome, though all seeds are accepted.
This is a casual, inclusive event perfect for families interested in gardening and sustainability. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just starting out, you'll leave with new seeds to try and ideas for growing plants at home. It runs from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., giving you a nice half-hour window to participate without a big time commitment.
