For Kids: The Wonders of Flight
Guided nature walk for kids exploring flight at WH/Downy Loop Trail.
Bring your child for a guided exploration of flying creatures and the science of flight. A naturalist will lead you through an introduction and simple craft activity in the shelter, then head out on a short walk to spot birds, flying squirrels, butterflies, and other airborne animals in their natural habitat. The program wraps up with a hands-on kite-flying experience—some kites are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own from home.
This program works well for preschoolers through teens, with both children and adults participating together. The whole experience runs about an hour and a half. If you have questions beforehand, the Nature Realm Visitors Center is available by phone Wednesday through Sunday. It's an in-person event, so dress for outdoor activity and weather-appropriate conditions.
