This October, the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology is hosting a special symposium marking fifty years since Robert V. Guthrie's groundbreaking book *Even the Rat Was White*. The 1976 publication exposed racism within psychology and related scientific fields, and highlighted important contributions from Black pioneers that had been overlooked. This symposium brings together scholars and practitioners to discuss how Guthrie's work continues to matter today and to explore the evolution of Black psychology over the past five decades.
The program will examine racial justice in psychology's current landscape and discuss how racism persists and transforms within the field. The best part? The event is completely free and open to everyone in the community. You don't need to attend the entire day—feel free to drop in for whatever portions interest you.
