Clay Wheel Throwing
Learn pottery on the wheel at Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls.
At Valley Art Center, young artists ages 10–13 will discover the satisfying art of wheel throwing. Over the course of the program, students learn foundational techniques like centering, shaping, and trimming clay on the pottery wheel. As they build confidence, they'll experiment with combining different forms to develop their own designs and explore underglazes to add color and patterns to their work.
By the end of the session, each student will have created a collection of handmade ceramic pieces that showcase their growing skills and creativity. Once the pieces are fired, parents will receive an email notification for pickup. Since clay work can be messy, have your child wear clothes that are okay to get dirty. The program runs for several weeks, giving young potters plenty of time to practice and improve.
