Akron Postcard Club: Armchair Archiving

Ever curious about what happens behind the scenes at a museum archive? This event pulls back the curtain on the David P. Campbell Postcard Collection, one of the region's remarkable historical resources. You'll discover how thousands of postcards get digitized, organized, and transformed into a searchable database that anyone can explore. No prior experience needed—whether you're a history buff or just looking for something different to do, you'll find something interesting here. The session combines learning with doing. After getting an introduction to how the postcard database works, you'll participate in hands-on archival activities that let you try the work yourself. If you have a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, please bring it along to get the most from the interactive portion. If you don't have a device, a limited number will be available to use during the program. This is a great fit for curious minds of all ages who want to understand how historical collections are preserved and shared.
