Adapted Storytime

Adapted Storytime is a library program designed to make reading accessible and enjoyable for children of all abilities, including those with autism, sensory sensitivities, or developmental differences. In a calm, low-pressure environment, a librarian shares age-appropriate stories with extra patience, flexibility, and sensory considerations—dimmed lighting, minimal crowds, and the freedom to move or respond naturally. It's a wonderful way for kids who might find traditional storytime overwhelming to experience the joy of books and build confidence around reading together.
